When someone we love passes away, deciding what to do with their remains can feel overwhelming. Choosing cremation doesn’t mean compromising dignity—in fact, for many families it offers flexibility, personal meaning, and practical advantages.
Cremation is a method in which the body is reduced to ashes through controlled, high-temperature processes. It is an alternative to burial and is fully respectful, meaningful, and widely accepted across many faiths and personal philosophies.
Cremations are conducted in tasteful purpose-built crematoriums, usually in pleasant, peaceful locations, where mourners can gather with the coffin of the deceased for a religious service of any denomination or a personal ceremony.
After the cremation you have the comfort of having the ashes returned to you to keep, inter, scatter somewhere special, or even have them made into jewellery. There are many options for keeping your departed loved one’s ashes close.
You can arrange to visit a local crematorium to find out more about what the space is like.
Unless for some reason the family of the deceased opt not to do so, a cremation starts off like any funeral – with a traditional service, religious ceremony or gathering of friends and family. Usually this is held in the crematorium’s chapel, but it can be off-site at any place of worship or other venue.
Once the ashes have been returned to you, you have the freedom to decide how you will dispose of them for remembrance.
