Many families chose to remember their loved one with charitable donations in lieu of flowers, to a specific cause that was important or relevant for them. Appropriate charitable organisations may include a favourite charity of the deceased.
If he or she suffered an illness the specified charity may be a medical research organisation that works for a cure in that area.
If the family has requested donations to a specific cause or charity in lieu of flowers, you can choose whether to make such a donation. These may be made on the day of the funeral, online or at one of our local offices. If you do, you need to do this in a timely fashion (within 10 days of the funeral service) so that the family can include you when writing thank you notes after the funeral.
We are on hand to assist with setting up and the collection of charitable donations on your behalf. Only with the online obituaries with MuchLoved you can also link a specified charity and D.J Bewley can provide a cash box on the day of the cremation or funeral service to collect cash.
Please contact us for more information.
Please note that the family will not be advised of the names of donors until the donations list is closed approximately one month from the date of the funeral; at that time the amount of donations received will be forwarded to the selected charity and the family advised of the names of the donors and the total amount received.
The family announcement in the newspaper should say “Close family flowers only please, or no flowers please but donations for XYZ may be sent to D.J. Bewley Funeral Directors”.
Any donations sent online can be increased in line with the Gift Aid rules by the click of a button, and if posted with a relevant declaration can be handled in the same way.
If you have any questions regarding the donation procedure please ask for Krystle Bewley (donation administrator).
No matter the emergency, you continue to be supported.
